pictures from the past few picture taking adventures
so, here are a couple of pictures that i have taken since my camera came back. it came back right before the trip we took a couple of weeks ago. luh-key!
here is a shot of the Sangre de Cristo mountains...they're gorgeous in real life. this was on the way down south to go see the sand dunes.
here are 2 pics of the sand dunes, one with the mountains in the background (for comparison) and the other one is just a shot of them. it was really fun being there, there was a small stream so you could play in the water, then try and climb the sand dunes (while the sand was tearing the flesh off of your body.) it was a difficult thing. we did not climb all the way up.
(can you see the people? they are very tiny.)
it almost looks like a painting.
while i was playing in the wet sand with my sister a little kid came up and wanted to help me out with the castle i was building. here is a pic of it when we finished. (mostly he was intent on destroying it...somehow i managed to get him to build at least this much.)
this is it after we got back from climbing some of the dunes. someone had obviously found it and altered it. (perhaps the same kid who helped me build it? i dont know)
an abandoned sock.
when we left here we drove around for a long time (we didnt really know where we were heading) until we decided to go to the royal gorge. its in canon city. we stayed the night at a hotel and then heading to do the fun gorge related activities in the morning. when we got to the top we discovered it was 20$/person to get into the "park" so we decided to spend that money on the train ride instead. it was actually a good time. here are some pics of the gorge.
here are two from the top. the nice thing is that you dont have to go into the park, there is a little side area where you can look over the edge.
then there are the pics from the train:
bridge and train.
this pic shows how cloudy it was getting. the earlier pics were the morning, then around noonish the clouds came. it even sprinkled a bit while we were on the train
this is an old "hobo hut." the nice thing about the train ride was all the info they gave us about the building of the bridge and the train route. they said that bums used to ride the trains, and they would come out here to the river and stay for the summer, there were tons of these little buildings along the route.
here is a shot from under the bridge.
there is a guy that owns this bit of land, they say that he still comes down and uses this. its for finding gold.
and this is a shot from inside the train. we were heading back. the route was a straight line past the bridge and then back. we decided to sit inside on the way back so that others could stand on the observatory deck (open car) of the train and see the stuff.
okay, it took a long time to make this really long post. good job blogger for adding a image option. later peoples.

p.s., the next image related post will contain pictures from the fourth of july.
